FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“Celebration
of Hope” Art Exhibit
Featuring International Acrylic Artist & Ann Arbor Resident Madalina
Nicola
Northville, MI –
On Friday, October 5th, only days after her return from the International
Fine Art Awards - Las Vegas ceremony, Ann Arbor acrylic artist Madalina
Nicola will make an appearance for her opening exhibit at Sherrus Gallery
of Fine Art in Downtown Northville.
Madalina’s emotionally
charged abstract paintings in acrylic have been described by art critics
as, “Chromatic effects of an almost Turner-esque radiance,”
and “lyrical, mature paintings,” where her “marvelous
use of color and glazes create an activated plane of decorative exuberance
… that explode into the space of a room.”
Ronald G. Miller, former vice president of the Detroit Institute of
Arts says what he finds most fascinating about Madalina’s art
is her varying levels of brushstroke techniques and brilliant colors
-- reds, blues, tans and 24 karat gold – that create fabulous
pieces that “just glow.” Miller learned of Madalina’s
work from a close friend and coincidently, was in Washington, DC when
Madalina was exhibiting her work there. He later recorded an interview
for a biographical movie about the artist. The movie, “Madalina,”
was created to document the artists’ life, including her debilitating
bout with several chronic illnesses that she had suffered from since
childhood: Trigeminal Neuralgia, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and Asthma.
After years of struggle, she has completely overcome her illnesses.
Today, Madalina’s
paintings can be found in private collections in New York City, Chicago,
Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, Moscow as well as
in Michigan, Russia, Switzerland and Romania.
